Using superpowers to tackle tricky literacy

BBC Small Town Superheroes

Primary Literacy is a topic full of complicated concepts and techniques. To try and help Primary School kids grasp these we came up with a group of wannabe superhero kids who tackle literacy around their local neighbourhood, Small Town.

  1. Characters

Multiple mini-games

Each lead character starred in 3 different HTML5 mini-games, meaning that we developed 18 mini-games for the project. The games all reflected traits of their superhero ‘powers’ as well, such as Evergreen Ena tackling plant-related challenges, Undercover Ursula solving problems through detective work, and MC Ernie rapping his way through all sorts of literacy-based conundrums.
