Welsh Language Apps launch0 15 Jan 16
Splinter recently launched 2 Welsh second language apps to promote and encourage learners to engage with the Welsh language. The games are designed for teachers and pupils of Primary and Secondary schools.
As a preferred supplier of digital services to The Welsh Government’s, Welsh in Education Resources Branch, we were pleased to have been invited and won the competitive pitch.
The games imaginatively illustrated whimsical characters are thanks to the very talented Clare and Dave. They are based on Welsh legends: Guto Nyth Brân, a legendary 18th century athlete from the Pontypridd area and Dreigiau Dinas Emrys about Gwrtheyrn, the 5th century king of the Celtic Britons and the antics of two dragons underground at Dinas Emrys.
Our thanks go to: The Welsh Government’s Welsh in Education Resources Branch, content author Elin Alaw, Welsh language specialists Janine Venables and Jo Knell, voice over actor Llŷr Ifans, developers Red Ninja and crucial testing input and feedback from the pupils and teachers of:
Ysgol Maelgwn, Llandudno Junction, Woodlands Community Primary School, Cwmbrân and Trowbridge Primary School, Cardiff, Ysgol John Bright, Llandudno, Cardinal Newman, Pontypridd and Eastern High, Cardiff.
