Rhuddlan Nature Reserve0 13 Feb 12
Denbighshire County Council commissioned Splinter and Mair Education to produce interpretation and marketing materials for the Rhuddlan Nature Reserve.
Core to the project aims was the desire for local children to be involved in the process, ensuring that the local community have ownership of the reserve to discourage vandalism and encourage use to ensure that they value the reserve for generations to come. The sessions were very successful, with the children fully engaged throughout.
Their input has genuinely determined the direction of the project in the following ways:
– Identifying the best physical locations for signage and interpretation boards.
– Choosing the format of interpretation boards.
– Determining the preferred content of interpretation boards.
– Providing artwork which will be reflected in the final designs of signage, interpretation boards and marketing materials.
The final outputs of the project were 6 different interpretation panels and a visitor leaflet.
