LCH AGM 20120 25 Sep 12
The 20th September 2012 heralded Liverpool Community Health (LCH) NHS Trusts second Annual General Meeting (AGM).
After Splinter’s very own Kev McCann attended last years AGM, we at Splinter HQ decided upon the theme of ‘Amazing Feats’, after all, LCH perform so many of them, day in and day out.
We embarked on combining NHS staff and a ‘circus’ theme together, which culminated in some beautiful illustrations created by Splinter’s very own Claire McCann. A fantastic team effort from Sarah, Claire and Kev brought the whole vision into a reality.
LCH embraced the theme and they had the very talented Spike Theatre performing and parading an elephant at the event.
A minute’s silence was well respected by all for Michael Molloy, son of LCH Chair Frances, who tragically lost his life in the Bestival coach crash.
Roger Lyon got proceedings underway and introduced us to Jan Rowlands from the Children’s Community Matrons Service. Jan told us of the care and support they provide to children such as Beth, Grace, Shea and other children and families.
Adult services wowed us with news of their Virtual Ward, which is designed to replicate a hospital ward in the patients very own home, which is an obvious benefit to the patient, their families and LCH.
The Podiatry service (who deal with 82,000 cases per year) told us of a revolutionary ‘soft cast’ which literally helps people back to their feet! They brought along Freda Regan, a patient who suffered with Tylosis, LCH helped to diagnose and treat her.
Public Health told us of the science and art of preventing disease, Dental Health told us of their ‘Happy Air’ treatment for young people and Director of HR Michelle Porteus encouraged the audience to become members of LCH so that we can get involved and have our say.
After the interval we were treated to video testimonials from LCH patients, which reinforced the message that LCH really are unsung heroes and perform many ‘amazing feats’!
