TravelWise brand development
Tuesday, 15 August 2006

Splinter were appointed last October by Merseyside TravelWise to help them

develop a new and recognisable brand for them.  The organisation are

responsible for the promotion of sustainable transport across the region and

felt that they needed a fresh take on their brand to boost their 25%

recognition rate.

Merseyside TravelWise are working closely with the five local authorities

(Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Knowsley and Wirral) and Merseytravel to

create a strong, colourful and memorable brand promoting sustainable

transport initiatives regionally to the public and internally.

This project has run for the last 10 months during which time the brand has

been developed, focus tested and was officially launched in June 2006.

As part of the development process Splinter have produced a dual brand to

service the public facing campaigns under the name TravelWise Merseyside and

the internal documentation and technical information under then name The

Local Transport Plan.  This works together in look and feel to create two

elements of one message.

So far we have produced a wide variety of media from roller banners and

flyers to certificates and a school pack launched at the School event on

June 14th. We have also produced the official Local Transport Plan for 2006

- 2011 in time for it's deadline at the Department of Transport in March.

The Local Transport Plan (LTP) is major document produced to secure funding

for the regional transport infrastructure over the next five year period and

we are following that up with the 5 year delivery plan for the end of July.
