He kept his celebration quiet until after lunch when he brought forth a wonderous feast of caramel and chocolatey goodness!

So we have a nice afternoon cuppa and cake to toast him!

  • Go! TravelWise
    • ]]>     Thanks to our chums at TravelWise (TW) yesterday for the invite to launch the Go! Schools sites at their Sustaining the Journey to School event.

    Huw Jenkins, Chair of  TravelWise Group/Merseytravel introduced  Sara Mair, our education specialist from Mair Education and I  to present the Go! sites to Merseyside schools.  One teacher told me her class pretended to be the TW Walk2school characters; Reece, Suzy, Ash and Mia. The characters were originally illustrated by Ste Woods in 2006  (see site! –  they have their own personalities, travel to school stories and lots of illustrations so teachers and pupils can create fun activities.)

    Finally, thanks from me and Sara to Splinter’s Baz, Shane, Sarah and Kevin, Dave and the TW team and all the local authority officers for  their hard work. Also a big thanks to the teachers, children and young people for their input.

    • ]]>     Splinter were appointed in October 2005 by TravelWise Merseyside to help them develop a new and recognisable brand. We developed and focus tested the new brand and it was officially launched in June 2006. In 2007 TravelWise Merseyside were recognised nationally when they were named Best Overall TravelWise Public Sector Organisation by the National TravelWise Organisation (www.travelwise.org.uk). The bright and easy to understand brand Splinter produced is one of the main reasons why TravelWise won the award for the second year on the run.

  • People & Place website launches
    • ]]>     National Museums Liverpool, who receive more than 2 million visitors to their museums every year, asked Splinter to give their website a re-vamp. The new site went live in the summer of 2008. The project involved us coming up with a design for the main portal NML site, as well as designs for each of NML’s 7 museums across Merseyside, including a specific learning section.

    In addition to the development of the website we have created, and manage, a comprehensive e-communication system for NML. This has involved the design and production of four separate templates and the setup of the management system.

    The fully re-designed site can be seen over at liverpoolmuseums.org.uk.

    • ]]>     We have recently completed content and design of the Hull Children and Young Peoples website. Splinter, in partnership with Mair education, produced full design templates, illustrations and written content for two websites targeted at under and over 12s. The sites are appealing and dynamic and the content we supplied was wide-ranging and original.

    The project won the following awards:
    • Gold Award in the Digital Media category at the National Local Government Association Awards 2009
    • Best website at the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire CIPR Awards 2009
