    • ]]>     Commissioned by Merseytravel www.climatlantic.co.uk is a fun and easy to use website for Primary and Secondary schoolchildren, teachers, parents and guardians. The website and games promote carbon reduction activity and environmental awareness, such as turning off lights, using public transport or planting a tree.

    Climatlantic is a partnership of European countries: Ireland, UK, Portugal, Spain and France, located along the Atlantic coastline and working together to reduce their collective carbon footprints. Visitors to the website’s homepage are invited to make a pledge and help save the planet. After pledging you/schools are automatically sent advice to help fulfill that pledge.

    The multi-lingual website has been designed with help from Holy Spirit School in Merseyside and Connah’s Quay High school in Flintshire. The children choose the colourful funky style of the website, the cool animal characters, including their names and also helped develop the game concepts. Climatlantic’s eco-guides are called Ollie the orangutan, Ula the parrot and Roofus the polar bear and appear throughout the site and games. Thanks to the fabulous illustrator Tracy who helped bring the children’s ideas to life.

    • ]]>     Clwydian Range, upland frontier of North Wales, is an unmistakable chain of purple heatherclad summits topped by Britain’s most dramatically situated hillforts and linked by Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail. Famous for its stunning views, this is one of the least discovered yet most welcoming and easiest to explore of the UK’s finest landscapes.

    Splinter, in partnership with Hi-Clarity Communications, have just delivered a comprehensive branding development for the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Consultation sessions were held with stakeholders, staff and local businesses to ensure that local ownership of the process was shared throughout.

    • ]]>     Splinter were appointed in October 2005 by TravelWise Merseyside to help them develop a new and recognisable brand. We developed and focus tested the new brand and it was officially launched in June 2006. In 2007 TravelWise Merseyside were recognised nationally when they were named Best Overall TravelWise Public Sector Organisation by the National TravelWise Organisation (www.travelwise.org.uk). The bright and easy to understand brand Splinter produced is one of the main reasons why TravelWise won the award for the second year on the run.

    As the preferred design supplier to TravelWise we have undertaken a wide range of applications for them including:

The colourful designs reflect the diversity of landscape, wildlife and activities available in and around Ruthin.The route between Ruthin and Mold in North Wales now has the vibrant addition of the Ruthin bus.

    • ]]>     Splinter worked with Merseyside Road Safety Partnership to produce the 2008 christmas ‘don’t drink and drive’ campaign to grab the attention of drivers and pedestrians alike. The campaign didn’t leave any room for debate, being a hard hitting campaign designed to complement the National campaign and change peoples’ behaviour.

    We also completed a range of additional road safety campaigns for MRSP and Merseyside Police in 2008 / 2009 including:
    - Spot the difference (Seat belts)
    - Child Killer (Seat belts)
    - Road. Phone. Death. (Mobile phones)

    • ]]>     DangerPoint is an award-winning interactive centre providing Personal, Community and Road Safety education to all parts of North Wales. Splinter produced a range of interactive learning materials covering diverse safety topics. These feature animation, video and a range of interactive functionality, delivered both in situ and online. We also designed extensive printed resources, powerpoints etc. with an illustration style very popular with the target audience.

    One notable interactive we developed was Drive School, a driving simulator aimed at 15-18 year olds who are potential/newly qualified drivers and highlights the risks and consequences involved with dangerous driving. The driver has to negotiate a track featuring road hazards and other obstacles. The driver is constantly monitored to ensure road sense and handling is upheld at all times. The user is then penalised for speeding, wreckless driving or other offences.
