Splinter And The Crystal Skull

crystal-skull

We recently had to pop down to meet one of our favourite clients, the British Museum, and whilst having a wander around, look what we found tucked away in a corner… A real Crystal Skull!!!

Maybe George Lucas and Steven Spielberg aren’t so mad after all!

Confex Augmented Reality

Splinter were recently asked to produce an interactive display for ACC Liverpool‘s stand at Confex, an international event which brings together the world’s top event organisers. To stand out as an exhibitor ACC were keen to have an augmented reality interactive display to wow their visitors.

What is Augmented Reality? – An Augmented Reality application is one which combines real world footage with virtual on-screen graphics in real time. It gives the user the ability to manipulate what’s on screen with something as simple as the movement of their hand.

Making use of ACC’s new branding elements we came up with an interactive experience where visitors could hold up their visitor card to the screen and interact with the graphics on screen to see if they had won one of the available prizes.

The display was a huge success with the Confex crowd, and drew a lot of interest from the press, thus helping promote ACC as a brand even more. You can see the application in action in the video below.

This year we’ve gone all out here at Splinter and treated ourselves to a studio tree! We have the lights, we have the tinsel… what else do you need? Well we discovered it’s possible to hole-punch a mini-card and make a decoration very quickly!!

So if there’s any illustrators out there who would like to have their work on Splinter tree then just post us one of your mini-cards (FAO Jon) and we’ll add it to the tree and post photos up here! The more the merrier! The first card features the work of the brilliant Project Detonate.

Splinter pocket portfolio

mini-card-packs

At Splinter we’re big advocates of the pocket portfolio, so we decided to order these little beauties from Moo. We took a bunch of our case studies as inspiration for the cards and then picked out the lovely red, black and grey felt wallets to tie into the Splinter branding. And now we get to see the happy faces of the clients we dish them out to!

Hail the power of the pocket portfolio!

WipEout Fury

With the PS3 release of the Fury expansion pack for WipEout HD, Sony asked Splinter to create a re-skinned ‘corrupted’ version of the WipEout HD site. Featuring the new black and red colour scheme, Splinter were able to replicate a number of the in-game distortion effects and transitions to keep the site in line with the branding for the real game.
