Liverpool & Merseyside Conference Portfolio

The Conference Portfolio has been produced to highlight the exciting and diverse conference venues in the Liverpool and Merseyside region. We were asked to produce a book that contained a lot of complex information that is easy to navigate through whilst attaining an attractive design layout. We were made aware that the book had to compete with other international conference destinations and needed to project Liverpool and Merseyside as a leader in this market. Our approach was to position the region as cosmopolitan, contemporary and confident, the book was printed in 5 colours using a litho silver to add to the overall high quality.

The project won a Best Brochure Silver Award at the National MIMA (Meetings Industry Marketing Awards) 2008.

AIMES marketing materials

As many of the services AIMES provide are ‘non-physical’ we decided to produce a series of abstract images, which had a scientific and technological feel to them. Specifically we chose to use fibre-optics as the subject to be photographed, as they are in essence the backbone of the technology solutions AIMES provide.

The shoot was accomplished through the use of a specially fabricated fibre-optic bundle, which was lit with a custom light source that contained a colour wheel, allowing us to easily change the colours. These were mounted in a ‘dark tent’ and shot with a macro lens to produce the appropriate magnification. The shots were taken with the aperture wide-open so that the depth of field was very shallow, in turn giving a greater sense of depth to the image.

We also completed a range of additional road safety campaigns for MRSP and Merseyside Police in 2008 / 2009 including:
- Spot the difference (Seat belts)
- Child Killer (Seat belts)

PITSTOP

Splinter completed an 18 month strategic health campaign called ‘Pitstop’ for Knowsley Primary Care Trust. We were awarded the contract after winning a competitive tender, and have developed a humorous but hard-hitting campaign that communicates to the target audience through a motoring metaphor, which the audience could understand and can relate to.

The campaign won National Communicating Health Awards 2005: Improving Health (Highly Commended).

Energise Knowsley

Knowsley Primary Care Trust needed a campaign to communicate their Obesity Strategy to both key stakeholders and the public in general. Splinter were commissioned to produce the campaign identity, related photography and the design of brochures, leaflets and exhibition materials. A highly visual approach was taken, basing the campaign around photography. Amusing portraits of local people were taken with them holding healthy foodstuffs and engaging in healthy activities.
