Choice 2011

After a second successful design Splinter was commissioned to produce the Choice brochure for Edge Hill for the third year running. The 2011 version shows a progression from the previous 2 as while it focuses on the students it also showcases Edge Hills excellent environments including new buildings.

Edge Hill Annual Report 2009

Having successfully produced the 2008 annual report Splinter was commissioned to design the 2009 version of the Edge Hill University annual review. Again, the report is environmentally friendly, making use of a drip varnish and vegetable inks throughout.

Clued Up On Enviro Crime

Following on from the award winning Clued up in Hull children and young people’s website, Splinter were asked to design and produce an additional game to add to the ‘13 and over’ section of the site. The game was made primarily to inform young people on the various forms of environment related crime that Hull City Council sees as a problem.

It’s split into four mini-games, each dealing with a type of crime, including fly tipping, littering, graffiti and dog fouling. Play the game here.

Clued Up On Homelessness

Following on from the award winning Clued up in Hull children and young people’s website, Splinter were asked to design and produce an additional game to add to the ‘13 and over’ section of the site. The game was made primarily to inform young people about the issues surrounding homelessness and to educate them on the best choices to make when attempting to get a job and pay rent.

There are three different characters in the game, each facing a different challenge – from budgeting for how to live alone, the best choice when moving away from parents or the best methods for job hunting. Play the game here.

Clwydian Range Website Launched

Screen shot of the Clwydian Range website

The newly designed website for the Clwydian Range AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) has been launched. The website includes several exciting features including an interactive walk guide, utilising Google maps. This allows users to select a walk from the map and then plots the route for them. The site also has panoramic view pictures and videos looking down over the range.

The Clwydian Range forms a 35km chain of hills that rises to 554 metres at the summit of Moel Famau in the centre of the area. To find out more about the range then check out the Clwydian Range website here.

New Contracts: LHT Annual Report & Sheffield Council Framework

Two further contracts we are delighted to have won are the contract to produce the 2010 annual report of the Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT) and the contract to be one of the service suppliers for the Sheffield City Council.

LHT own almost 10,000 homes across Merseyside and have been operating since 1965. They want an annual report to keep tenants informed on what is going on within the business, including positive things that they have been doing for tenants throughout that year. It is part of their goal to provide a quality service to customers. We are looking forward to working with such an esteemed Merseyside business.

Sheffield City Council has announced its communication services suppliers’ list for the next two years. Under the £300k framework agreement Splinter has been appointed as one of a list of approved companies winning all the lots it tendered for including: graphic design, marketing and comms, new media, cartography, illustration and digital photography.

The tender process included creating an impactful road safety campaign aimed at 11 – 24 year old pedestrians. We look forward to working with Sheffield City Council to realise road safety and other campaigns very soon.

Rhyl & Prestatyn Brochure

We are pleased to say that we have been given the contract to produce the 2011 version of the Rhyl and Prestatyn funtime brochure. We can’t wait to begin collaborating with the staff of the Denbighshire County council Tourism department.

Rhyl and Prestatyn are both undergoing large scale regeneration programs in an attempt to encourage people to return to these seaside resorts and relive those childhood memories.

the Bluecoat

the Bluecoat building

We’re chuffed to have won the contract to design the new website for the Bluecoat, and we’re all looking forward to working with the Bluecoat team.

For those who don’t know… the Bluecoat is a restored historic building in the centre of Liverpool and its community mixes artists of all types and encourages connections between audiences, participants and artists. It uses its spaces to display talent from all creative disciplines, including visual art, music, literature, dance, and live art.

The building underwent a £14.5m redevelopment and was reopened in 2008. Now the Bluecoat is updating its online presence to match its ambitious plans for the future.
